What you are buying

thesquare.lol shows a picture of a city square with 44 screens drawn over it. When you pay for a screen, your name or image and an optional link are displayed on that screen for everyone who visits the site. You hold the screen until someone pays more for it than you did. There is no fixed duration: it can be minutes or months.

This is a novelty advertising product. It is not a real billboard in New York, and it is not affiliated with the place pictured, any building owner, or any brand shown by other buyers.

Prices and payment

Every screen starts free: the first to take an empty screen pays nothing. To take a screen someone else holds, you pay at least $1 more than they paid. You choose the amount. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, who acts as merchant of record: they charge your card, add any sales tax or VAT your country requires, and issue the receipt.

Refunds

Purchases are final. Being outbid is part of the game and does not entitle you to a refund. There is one exception: if someone else takes the same screen for more money in the seconds between you starting to pay and your payment being confirmed, your payment is refunded automatically. That refund appears on your card within a few days.

If we remove your ad under the rules below, no refund is given.

What is not allowed on the screens

We remove ads, without notice or refund, that contain or link to:

• sexual content, nudity, or anything aimed at minors
• hate, harassment, threats, or content targeting a person or group
• illegal goods or services, scams, malware, or phishing
• other people's trademarks, likeness, or copyrighted material without permission
• anything that could get the site, its payment provider, or its host in legal trouble

You are responsible for what you put on a screen and for the page you link to. By paying, you confirm you have the right to use the name, image, and link you submit, and you allow us to display them publicly and in screenshots or promotion of the site.

Availability

The site may go down, change, or shut down. If it shuts down for good, screens simply stop being displayed. No refunds are owed for downtime or changes.

Privacy

We store what you put on the screen, the amount you paid, and technical details of your visit such as your IP address, to run the site and prevent abuse. Your card details never reach us; they go to Dodo Payments. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies. We do not sell your data.
